Hi Przemol,
actually there is no proof for the two color on topside... here you are two wartime color images. One is French sample and the other one is Belgium sample. Hope this help. I work on max and on B/W photo it look like two color on topside and small shgades details could not be with easy detected as another color.
Cheers

Thanks a lot, Sreiko, for very interesting photos. Next time I happen to work on Ni16 I will pick up this Belgian one.
Yet these are not photos of Ball's mount so I daresay I can walk around claiming it might have been two-coloured

The kit comes together very nicely, no fit problems almost, I only had to lengthen the cabane struts.
As for the accuracy it is quite good, too. I noticed that the upper wing differs in some aspects from Windosck Special plans but is quite fine when compared to plans from Squadron book on Nieuport Fighters. Overall dimensions do not go beyond 1mm difference in the model scale.
What the kit lacks is detailing in many aspects. Cockpit is very basic - I added Part PE set; airscrew is horrible - I replaced it with a trimmed airscrew I found in my spares box; the engine is likewise, one of my colleagues said that it seemed they had put rubber covers of car springs instead of cylinders - this item is waiting for exchange as soon as I get a better representation of 110hp Le Rhone; I also added completely missing characteristic feet of interplane struts as well as connections of main wheels axle with struts. The tail skid also required some trimming. Lewis in my set was not completely moulded - I replaced it with a spare one from Rodens' Curtiss H16.

My 1:72 scale version of Albert Ball's Nieuport 17's engine was molded in with the cowling! It was awful, so I cut out the crappy molded engine and put in a nice detailed spare Le Rhone I had from another kit and it turned out great.

And maybe you have one more Le Rhone in your spare box, Laspalmas? I would greatly appreciate such a donation

I'm not sure, it was a lifetime ago, but I'll check for you.

Er... I think the Belgian one in Sreiko's photos is a Nieuport 10 or 12 converted to one-seater, isn't it?

You must be right, Familyman. It does not look like Ni11/16 at the second glance. I was not careful enough looking first at these photos.
Sreiko, once more, thank you for your valuable comments.
Wow! Albert Ball! I am honoured that you paid attention to my minor and unworthy tribute to your undisputed glory!
