Hello All,

Some people are saying that this is a reissue of the DML Dragon 1/48 Fokker D.VII. I have not seen the kit, but I doubt it, more than likely the old Aurora kit re-boxed? Anyone out there buy this kit yet?

It's the old Aurora kit re-boxed. Still not a bad kit.

Yeah, *especially if you have a Dremel 'table or band' saw. *You could even start a cable show on model building called 'This Olde Kit' ...Probably take up most of the first season to fix the Revell/Monogram 1/46 Fokker D.VII.

Galloway, Italeri has the distribution rights to the DML/Dragon 1/48 kit. Currently it is out in Europe but not in the states that we know of. They use the Dragon box art for the Udet 'Du Doch Nicht!!' with Bust. Inside there is a small piece of paper separate from the instructions quoting its distribution from Italeri. Revell/Monogram hasn't purchased any Dragon plastic that we know of. But you can always keep your fingers crossed. Hah!

Yes, I vote for an all new 1/48th scale Fokker D.VII by Eduard, (Anyone at Eduard Listening?) At this time 3 years from now they could still be cranking out different versions! Heck they could even do a few post war Czech D.VIIs!

Not that the DML Dragon Fokker D.VIIs are all that bad, but they could improve on a few things, like the photo-etched struts for one!!!!!

Well it looks like a Fokker to me. Plus its far cheaper and easier to buy than the DML ones down under here.

Stephen, I don't know that the DVII is available in Europe through Italeri or anyone else. Certainly I've not seen or heared of it. But your description is very detailed and obviously based on first hand knowledge. Tell us more. Some years ago it was rumoured the DML DVII had been re-boxed by Hasegawa, but I think that too turned out to be Monogram's improved Aurora mold.

Ross, Monogram's retooling is a great improvement on Aurora's original and builds up into a presentable model, but it does need a lot of work to make an accurate (there's that word again) DVII. It can be done though and I have one on display to prove it. With a fine range of DVII's in 1:72, and a blossoming interest in the manly scale, I place my hopes for the future in Roden.

The Revell's Fokker D.VII is the same (not so) old Monogram kit, that was an improved version made on the old Aurora kit. *The authentic Aurora kit is found today with Smer.
That Fokker D.VII from Revell/Monogram is not an accurate kit as it should be if it was made by Eduard... *But after to see the finished model, with a carefull job (do not forget to replace the plastic machine guns for photo-etched ones), you would not be so disappointed, unless you are a "flaws' hunter"...
The small problems with this kit, now by Revell, inconvenience me less than the photo-etched struts of the DML kit...
If DML noticed the nonsense that they did when doing those details in photo-etch... *>
MIRAGE models promised a "complete" Fokker D.VII family in 1/48 scale. Their kits already in the market are really good, but how long will we still have to wait that? Will they really execute that promise?
Why, why, why Eduard does not make it?

I have to agree with FCM here that the brass struts of the DML kits are just plain useless.

FCM,

You are almost correct. The SMER is the old Aurora kit as are most of their kits.

The R/M is a very poor redo. The struts are way to long.

I have all 3 kits. The Aurora I built years ago as one of my first plastic kits.

Just compared SMER & R/M models. Same size, only difference....R/M corrected the rudder and added control horns.

And the struts are too long/but better scale on the R/M model.
