WIP Pfalz DIII 1/32 Roden
Hello all,
I'm nearly closing this baby up. I thought it best to show you guys my progress. I have chosen to give the cockpit the wood effect instead of the popular silver/grey dope. I prefer the organic look
The engine has valve springs, ignition leads and oil pipes added. I had to scratch a new control grip, the kit one was lost to the carpet monster
The last picture shows rudder control cables fitted. The elevator cables come next. The cushion for the seat was made out of green stuff.
Well, it's early days... I will keep you updated as and when.
Cheers,
Bob Von Buckle

Very nice BvB. It's always a shame to cover up such lovely work. But it always gives a better sense of accomplishment and more soul.

Hello Bob,
It's looking very nice!
Strange thing though....I recently had a visit from the "Carpet Monster" and he left me a 1/32" Pfalz D.III control grip. It has been a mystery to me, but now it all makes sense!
Keep up the good work, as we look forward to your progress.
HAPPY TRAILS, FOKKERJ
P.S. Your control grip looks better than the one that was left with me.
Now I'll have to scratch a plane around it!

Thanks one and all
Very small amount done today due to work commitments
I got the lap belts installed and the upper elevator cables installed, I'm not going to bother with the lower cables...
The harness was made from fine masking tape with the buckles coming from the Toms modelworks set. The shoulder harness will be in place tomorrow all being well.
Happy days!
Von Buck

Nice job, Bob.
Were their control cables double and twisted like this?
I didn't know that!
I have done some limited time "Lock Wiring/Safety Wiring" nuts and bolts on aircraft assemblies.
Each nut and bolt had a small hole drilled across the corner of the hex flats in 3 places.
The safety wires were doubled and twisted (Not too tight! And not too loose! Just right.) between each nut and or bolt,
sometimes as a series where possible.
They were placed on the pull side so that they could not vibrate loose and also that no one could tamper with them
they were crimp sealed (double barreled lead ferrule) with the company's initials.
Keep up the good work, Jay

Hello Jay,
I have absolutely no idea if the cables were twisted or not, I just liked the look of them, so that was that... I was sold!
Thanks for the encouragement, believe me, it helps.

German control and rigging cables. Definately twisted in 5 & 7 strand types.

Stephen,
Cheers for the info.
I had a feeling they would be twisted but didn't know 100%... I know now
