A couple of weeks ago i read a thread about woodgrain for Luftwaffe fuselages that included a description of how to produce woodgrain using Oil Pastels. I found bunch of these in my son's new art set and can't now find the thread. I recal it involved tinted Future/Klear but beyond that i'm lost. Any one recal the full description or link?

I suppose that you can use oil pastels to duplicate wood-covered fuselages. I occassionally use oil pastels to "weather" W.W. 2 aircraft that I build from time to time, mostly to simulate oil smudges, wear points, metal chippings, etc. It does require a coat of clear gloss or flat finish to seal in the oil pastels, otherwise the model will pick-up fingerprints every time that you handle it. Or you can use Future liquid wax.

I prefer to use oil paints instead -easy to do (with a little bit of practice) and very realistic.
