Sreiko,

Which one of Udet's Eindeckers are you referring to? Do you have Greg VanWyngarden's excellent "Early German Aces of WW1" from Osprey? It has a photo of Fokker E.III 105/15 showing the correct position of the sash and armée nummer. I believe the Eduard kit contains decals for this aircraft, does it not? (It was NOT an E.II)

If you are interested, PM me and I can provide additional info on this aircraft/type.

I can only think of photos of a couple of other Eindeckers with Udet: an unidentified later E.III and one, or two, E.Is. No E.IIs.

What was the opinion in Greg's book about the sash colour; red or blue?

Here is a bit of fun on a recent round on the sash colours.

I believe the comments there range from Red, blue and black. First, the sash was not a personal marking but I believe an army Identity standard. Like an pennant or ensign. He was stationed with the Prussians Nes pas?

Wasn't he stationed with Bavarians, which is why blue was mentioned?

Someone corrected me, when I said he was a Bavarian. Apparently he was from Frankfurt (Wikipedia), which was in Hesse at the time. And the colours of Hesse are red, white and blue.

Anyway, the build looks great. I'll be following it closely to see how kits should be built!

I assume there is no known extant fabric from E102 in the Science Museum in London.

Stephen,

I think Streiko was asking about the albums, notes and materials of Udet - not Goering.
