Hello,
This may be yesterday's news to some of you, but Eagle Strike decals has issued two more sheets for the Fokker DVII in 1/48 scale. They are 48-611 and 48-612, "Incredible Fokkers". They can be seen at Eagle Strike decals web site.
Unfortunately, the sheets recommend the DML kit ! That does us a lot of good! Pity, since they are really pretty birds.
Thanks, willy

Funny that they produce decals for an out of production kit (DML) but refuse to scale them properly for existing 1/72nd kits (Roden, etc.).
It makes no sense.

One of the sheets is for "Mimmi", where the aircraft is merely a life support system for black and white checkers. The checkers are provided in black and clear decals sized for fuselage top, right side, left side, bottom and top and bottom of the horizontal tail. All(!) you have to do is paint the fuselage and tail white (with blue nose, of course) and then apply the checker decals. One glitch - the decal for the starboard fin is incorrect. The decal maker merely reversed the patter for the port side, when photos in 'Anthology 3' clearly show white where the decal has black. Fortunately, there are some spare single checkers, so a correct arrangement is easy. A consistent problem with all of these sheets is a glib "D.VII cowlings varied, so check your references." Big-tie cop-out! So figure on seeing the kit cowling/exhaust configuration used for schemes where it is not applicable.

DANGER, DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!
In an earlier post I pointed out the Aeromaster 48-661 ('Mimmi') had an error, in that the starboard and port fin checkers were simple mirror images, which meant that on the starboard side the white checkers and black checkers were reversed from what they should be. I just realized that Aeromaster did the same thing with the entire starboard side panel. That means that, while the top, port and bottom checker panels seem to match up, the starboard panel WILL NOT. Whoever did the artwork evidently figured 'hey, I can just flip the image'. Wrong. This is truly bizarre since the photo of 'Mimmi' shows the starboard side. I think, once you know the problem, it will be possible to slice and rearrange the starboard panel (you may need some additional black decal). But here's hoping nobody has already made this discovery by applying the decals.......

Easy mistake to make. Hard to believe they don't try thier own decals before releasing them though.
Producing a decal sheet, whether correct or no, calls for the investment of a lot of time and money. So why do it for a kit that's been OOP for so long? Do we think they know something we don't?
