;D You ain't gonna believe this! I just found a guy on the net (a week ago), that's willing to give me a 1/24 Blue Print models Nieuport 28, and a new Battle Axe 1/32 DV, for a buch of old "blowtorch" models I bought on a whim several years ago!
I sent this guy in '48 an EA6B Prowler, an A-18 Hornet, an F-8 Crusader, an F-14 Tomcat, 2 aftermarket sheets, and some photo-etch, to get the WWI planes! AND He Agreed! P.T. Barnum said it all, "There's one born every minute!". He's also wanting to throw in the BA DVII. I Love the net! John

Do we detect a note of "unabashed glee" in your post? Careful, The Modeling Gods have been known to warp kit pieces in the box, disintegrate decals, and introduce water into airbrush lines when they feel we modelers get too "uppity."
Stephen is right; no doubt your trading partner is also overjoyed at "getting REAL airplanes for all that WWI junk."
Did you mean the High-Tech 1/32 D.V? I pre-ordered from Squadron, and they said delivery around Easter time. It's available already?? I can't wait, as it promises to be everything the B-Axe D.VII was not, and w/ seperate 5-color loz available from B-Axe, modelers won't be limited to schemes w/green/violet wings.
Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the 1/24 Nie.28. I have their Alb.D.V and it is a daunting kit, to say the least. Everything's there (including some beautiful decals) but the frame work is heavy PE brass. I scanned the fret, and am thinking of rubber-cementing the patterns to plywood and cutting them out. No way will I be able to paint prass to look like wood.
Congratulations on your good fortune! Rob

:-[I stand corrected! That's the mindset at 12:30 am, after second shift! You are right, it's High Tech. Not sure how he's doing it, as He's in Hungary. But you're right on the mutual Glee. I got those blowtorches on a whim, Guess he did the same. It's called IMPULSE buying. John

While we are boasting, I'm not ashamed to say that I just scored both the Marcos 1/24 Fokker D8 and their Nieuport 28. Looks like building *some big birds are in my future. Very much *also looking forward to the Hitech D.V. Let us know how you like it.
All the best,
Steve

Rob, I got to thinking what you said about using plywood. Have you ever tried the wood planking and strips from Micro Mark? I'm trying some of their 1/16 cherry to remake some interplane struts for a 1/32 HC Nieu. 17. Looks promising so far. Here's their web addy, just look under wood. I know it's supposed to be used for boats ( I'm sure to hear about that), but it seems to be working. John

John, Thanks for the Micromark tip. I use mostly basswood 'cause it's cheap, but have also had good results w/ balsa. It's easier to cut and shape , it's cheaper, and after coating w/ thin superglue, it's almost as dense as hardwood in case it has to bear a load. Rob

Glad Blueprint Models is getting some business, or at least some press. I built their Pfalz DIII last spring and found it to be a rewarding experience.

Just so you know - the 1/48 Prowler has been known to go for over $100 on ebay, if it's from the right manufacturer. Add in the other stuff you exchanged, and it looks to me like he's not quite the "sucker" you claim he is.
By the way, when did it stop being rude to crow over supposed "sharp dealing" people have made?
???
