Well it is in their Limited Edition catagory. Though for that kind of money she should be able to whistle a pretty tune as well.

There Combo kits are less, you get 2 in the box. A single Eduard Fokker DVII with all the bells and whistles is is $34.95 just venting

Yeah, you can buy the D.VII OAW version for around $30 online, plus Seven Swabian decals for $9 or so so what other parts are provided in the limited edition to make it worth the money?
Actually it costs almost as much as the Encore Albatros D.II which has photoetch and resin add ons and is 1/32 scale!!!
Not sure how many of these will sell, but they may be hoping for a repeat of the Red Baron triplane/DV kit although that at least gave you 2 kits and resin figures, not sure what you will get in this one.

This isn't a flame session, so please no one get upset about what I write (as someone always takes offense when I defend a manufacturers "high" prices).....
Playing devil's advocate for a second (or most of the time, as you guys all know me....), I don't mind that Eduard releases pricey limited edition kits. Usually there's some extra goodies in there that don't always justify the price, but sometimes there's stuff in there that you can't find anywhere else.
That being said, I don't mind so long as there's an alternative... For those that don't want all the extras or spend the money, there's the weekend kit....and everything in between. It's nice that they're presenting the same plastic from $15 to $55 and everything in between with various levels of extras.
I don't think anyone should be angry that Eduard is also catering to modelers willing or able to part with more money.
Not all of us out here in modeler land are upset we can't go down to the corner store and pick up a crude, chunky, representation of a model airplane for under $2 anymore.
Just my opinion, again, nobody get upset....
Chris

No hostility from me Chris. I will wind up getting at least one just to review it. But with all the decals available, the Weekend kit plus the Eduard D.VII PE available separately you can build any late Schwerin or any early type Fok. D.VII. You can always go cheaper. The OAW mid production or the Alb. late production are the fuselages that seem to be harder to come by. But the Alb. Combo kit is still available as well.

Gee, when I first started buying WWI kits in the PX in Frankfurt, Germany, in the mid-60's, they were only 19 cents.....Of course, they were only Revell, Airfix, and Aurora.........

Everone is entitled to there opinion...
The kit in my opinion is over priced even if it is an OAW .
Taking into consideration what Eduard has out there now ,the molds are not new the etch is not new .
The decals are new and what else is included in the kit ?
I'm not against Eduard making money i want them to make money so they continue to make there great kits but i would like to see this kit in the affordable $30.00 to $35.00 range still high IMHO but easier to digest .
Are 7 schwabiens included? That would make 8 if you include me
Really i have a few Eduard OAW in my stash and there oop and didn't pay that much for them .
I hope that # was a TYPO.

$55 does seem higher than the standard limited edition boxings, with the exception of a few "special" kits, like the red baron double kit.
I'm with you, in that it's more than I'd like to pay for another D.VII kit, especially when there are so many other Eduard boxings (and don't forget the very buildable, very nice looking Roden ones). But, Eduard seems to think the market can support it.
Eduard is pretty good about not pricing something higher unless there's something special about the kit...limited availability, extra goodies, piece of a real airplane, etc.
Eduard's site is blocked here at work, so I'll have to check it out when I get home and see if there's any reason it's that much.

Absolutely. As long as Eduard boxes their kits in a variety of flavors to suit all, we can all be pleased.
My dilemma is that due to time restraints, I've become some what of a collector as well as a builder. So I like to have at least one of them all.
Still, I can't believe that the weekend kit of the Fokker Tripe will be out next month. Wow, that was quick!
Salute,
Steve
