Howdy,
Can't seem to find old-fashioned Testor's liquid cement anymore. Did they stop making it? Is Tenax 7-R any good for bonding polystyrene plastic? TIA, willy

Have not used Tenax, but the Tamiya Liquid Cement (you know it is actually a solvent welding agent) is excellent, very thin. More than adequate as a replacement for the Testor's.

Tenax works fine. It has far less of a smell (unless you get really close.) Best of all, it's made in Tennessee.

Willy, Have both on my workbench (my local Hobby Lobby is still selling Testor's) Tentax (or Ambroid Pro-Weld) for flowing down the seams of those perfectly moulded "Tamigawa" kits, and Testor's for parts that need moving into alignment after gluing. I even have the "thicker Testors" ( NOT tube, the one in that funny-shaped black plastic bottle with the red label) for tacking pieces into place, followed by "welding" w/ Tentax, or thin superglue. 73's, Rob

Willy:
I've had excellent results with Ambroid Pro-Weld. It bonds in less than a minute and covers up well under a coat of primer. Should be readily available in better hobby shops.

You may be right about Testor's liquid cement no longuer being available. I haven't seen it in my local Hobby Shop for quite a while. I have used another brand of liquid cement, but i am not satisfied with the result, as i dont find it as good as Testor.

Tenax 7r is an excellent product- just use it sparingly, otherwise it will melt the plastic!
