Here's another question for everyone..hopefully I can find the right answer..

I have a Guillow's Fokker Dr.I kit that I am working on, but i dont know what scale it's in. Any ideas? The wingspan is 20", and I have ventured to guess that its something like 1/16 or 1/20. Any ideas.

Reason I ask is that I am looking for a more realistic model engine for this plane, something with resin/metal parts would be great. Ideas there?? Thanks for any help given..

I replied once......

The real wing span is 23' 7" divided by your 20" is about 1/14 scale

I had a better answer before but did not get posted.

1/48 = 1" for 4'

Dtenney,
* * * According to my math it works out to 1:18
23.6 *divided by 20 = 1.18

I could be wrong but thats what the ol calc says.

dpcmodels:
*In order to determinr the scale you must work in the same dimension,ie.
* *span of the model is 20" and the s[pan of the full size aircraft is 23'6" you must either convert the model span to feet or convert the full size span to inches. so:
1. 23'6" =23 x12 +6 = 276" + 6" =282"
* * 282 ÷ 20= 14.1. the scale is 1/14.1 scale
2. *20" ÷ 12" = 1.666' =1.67'
* * *23'6" = 23.5' ÷ 1.67 = 14.07 =14.1 =
* * *1/14.1 scale
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Blue skies,
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Dan-San

To Dan-San:

Here's a tough one for you. It has to do with subs. I recently bought a Testor's 1:350 scale model of the SSBN Ohio, and a Revell 1:230 scale SSN Skipjack. I want to mate the two so that I come out with a Lafayette class SSBN Ulysses S Grant. I was told by a person who models subs and who served on board the SSBN Casimir Pulaski to chop the Skipjack just aft of the sail, mate the first eight pairs of missle tube section of the Ohio to the Skipjack, then mate the aft end of the Skipjack to produce the Grant. Does this sound right to you?

To Dtenny:

Check out Verlinden. They might have a resin Oberursel you could use for your scale.

Thanx Dan San.

Pete,

Forget it. The scale is lenght, wideth, and in the case of a sub, circum.
