insulating the intake pipes is to keep the fuel air mixture temp from changing i thank. you know hot air is less dense. as it is the German habit of running there intake air through the crank case tunnels heat the air up also and the motor would have a power loss if the air gets to thin do to heated air let alone with alt. but it works great as carb heat{ carb ice} that problem they fix with preheated air.. asbestos wrap is not tape it is a cord and i thank it is dipped in wall paper past and wrapped around the pipe or tubing and is off white in color and might be painted black i have been asked to insulate exhaust headers to make free power HP it was for a 750 HP CAMARO 1969 Doug

Ear-Radiator/Radiatorpipe
Hi all, now here are Pictures from the D.I Ear-Radiator and the Radiatorpipe, behind the Engine.
(Look Windsockdatafile No. 100, Page 10.)
The last step before I put together the Fuselagehalfes.
The end from the (Brass) Pipe is the upper fixing Point on the Fuselage outside for the Radiators. All Waterpipes, Oilpipes etc.. are 0,3mm , 0,5mm and 0,8mm Brass ore Wires from very thin Electriccables. The Wires to Aileron, Elevator and Rudder are 0,08mm Fishing-lines (also the Bowdencables to both Spandau's and Carburator). The Photoetch-Parts on the Ear-Radiator are from the ENCORE-Albatros D.II Kit.
The Throttlecontrol on the "Joystick" is completly scratch from Plasticsprue.
My "Referenzbooks" to Detail the Inside (and later outside ) of my Albatros D.I:
Windsock Datafile No.1 Albatros D.III, - No.100 Albatros D.I/D.II, - Datafile Special Albatros Fighter's and - Datafile Special Albatros D.III

Spandau 08/15
Hi, here are the Spandau's for the Albatros D.I
I painted the 08/15 "semi gloss black" X-18 from Tamiya, and after it was dry, a thin coat Mr.MetalColor "stainless" No.213...........a little polish when it was dry.
I used foto-etch-parts from Eduard.
