Fantastic! What a pit that this piece will end under a cowling...

May I ask which material was used to cover these carburetor pipes to the clyinders? ( On the real thing and what did you use on the model?)

Thanks in advance,

Hans

Carburettor intake pipes

Hi Hans,

The carburettor intake pipes were bound with asbestos rope. Many or most of the aero engines I have seen also have what looks like pressed steel sheet plates fitted to the top half of the pipes, which presumably keep any heat within the pipes, and stop the heat from rising and escaping.

Cheers,

David.

I suspected that this is asbestos, as the model really looks like that. Hmm. Why does these pipes need an insulation? Or is a protection against the engine heat?

More Albatros D.I

Hi, thanks for the "nice" words from all....................here the next Picture from the D.I

I find a little toy (0,3mm) in my Box and can't sleep tonight

@Hans
