Maybe we should try to find one person in Europe who lives in a country in which the VAT is the cheapest, get a big order to him, and have 'm distributed by him. Extra shipping costs will still be a lot less then those incredible high VAT expenses.
But that person must have plenty of time and be most reliable of course .
My actual kit arrived yesterday. Even as a kit it is a big delight to posses.
Cheers, Nico

Well Done, Kofoed! I have one of these models in my "to do" pile, so I am very interested in your observations and techniques. You may be interested to know that Rowan's decal sheet provides decal strips to replicate the tail and rudder framing that you note does not appear clearly on the WNW model. If it is not too late, you might use this idea: apply decal strips of virtually any colour, and then paint over them.
Thanks for posting! I look forward to seeing your finished build!

Thank you guys.
Yes, Nico, maybe we should do that. Mike later down offers to contact him and in another post I've seen him most kindly offering to receive kits in Florida and send these to Europe as a private shipment.
Thanks a lot for your kind words, Lars. If everythig goes well, I shall bring this along to Malmö.
TP, thanks a lot. Actually I thought about it, but looking at period photos shows more like a distinctly "sharp edge" made by the framing under the linen. Very strange, so I gave it up.
Good luck with yours.
Mike, thank you very much. And your offer is very generous, thanks a lot.
Thanks,
Kofoed

Kofoed, that is one beautiful looking model. Quick question, you say you're a brush painter, in brush painting, do you thin the paints or anything? I haven't built a model in about 20 years and am getting back in to it now. Any tips you may have on brush painting will be helpful.
Thanks,
James

Thank you very much, James.
My preferred paint is Polly Scale acrylics, and I as good as always thin them with either acrylic thinner or destilled water. This makes them more smooth on the surface. It may take some more layers, though, but it's always better to have more, and thinner, layers than clogging up details with thick paint. Also, when the paints have been left unused for awhile, another sip of thinner may be necessary. Finally, I may put in some retarder to help prolong the drying time of the most quick-drying paints.
There are differences in colour pigments, some can take a lot more thinner than others. You will have to test your preferred paints.
Good luck with your getting back to modelling. I'm sure you will quickly be back on track.
All the best,
Kofoed

Nice to see one of these coming together, thanks for sharing the pics! It's coming on really well
And yes, the fit really is very good on these kits. I'm at a similar stage on my SE5a, but decided to fit the engine cowling in place. The one area that really doesn't just slot together though, I guess they really did intend for it to be left off. Got there in the end though
