A couple of interestings.
Gentlemen:
I just noticed the kit number of the Rol.D.VIa is 32022! That is two more than what I thought WNW had in the works. I think they are higher than that, maybe 32024? That is divisible also by 4. I thought the kits stopped at 32020.
Another thing, WNW have two Pfalz D.IIIa models serial numbers, D.4190/17 to D.8051/17, these with the rounded strut ends and D.8052/17 to D.1399/17 the later pointed strut ends.
I have identified the Mercedes D.IIIa and the D.IIIaü, also there must be a BMWIIIa.
To date I have identified from the two issus of Windsock Vol.25, No 2 and No.3, fifteen WNW models, that leaves possibly nine not identified. I have some very interesting possibilities. I think there will a few that only require minor changes, those being at least Viper version of the S.E.5a, Alb.D.Va, B. Rol.D.VIb, now some new ones, B.E.2e or f, Sopwith 1F1 Camel, SSW D.IV, Ru C.IV, Breguet 14A2 or 14B2, and the D.H.9a. These are just purely guesses, we shall see what the future bring. Whatever they will be, they will be fantastic models.
Blue skies all,
Dan-San

Hello Dan,
Would you not think that some of those kit numbers be given over to the super detailed variants?
I will make a prediction... The next batch of gems will be out late October early November. Just in time for the mad Christmas market.
Bring it on!
Bob

Wingnutwings future releases
Hi Dan-San,
I'm still recovering from the sight of all those new models - but somewhat relieved my bank balance is still intact.
Among the possible permutations of the known aircraft types are about nine Fokker DVII forms - Richard could not say how these would be dealt with. It is a real problem of how to present these to keep people happy and without having to put too much choice/complexity in one box. Also, the Sopwith Pup is another type with several engine/cowling forms - we had a short discussion about this - and of course I'd love to see the RNAS Beardmore 9901a series kitted.
Patience, patience (nails bitten to the quick).
Cheers,
GrahamB
Bob - there was a built-up and beautifully painted J.1 586/18 on the stand - a 'special edition' with lozenge decals and other bits and pieces. Ray had mentioned this in the Wingnutwings Windsock edition.

WNW kit number sequencing
I had a chat to Richard about the significance of the kit number sequencing and he said that the number is not linked to the order in which the kits would be released, notwithstanding that the first four were in sequential order.
Until Wingnut release specific pictures or news on upcoming kits the future possibilities are as wide as the list of WWI aeroplanes. If modellers support WNW well, I am sure there will be lots of new releases over time. And yes it's nice to dream. I have no idea what their criteria are for choosing future subjects, partly it could be what interests Richard or Peter Jackson, it could be influenced by the availability of surviving aircraft and plans, by popularity with modellers and the extent to which demand has been met by competitors already. Who would have guessed they would do a Gotha in 1/32?
Happy Modelling
James

According to the Laws and Rules of modeling, I may be about to guarantee that there will be a Viper SE5a. Why? Because I'm about to start building the WNW SE5a, converted to a Viper version. This means a scratchbuilt radiator, shutter assembly(oh joy), engine mods with lowered thrust line, prop with reversed pitch from the kit supplied ones, various panel and small detail bits......it's what the client wants.
SO- I imagine the Viper kit will be released just about the time I finish my conversion.

Robert: After seeing your 1/32 Gotha I never thought that a manufacturer would attempt to mold one of those beasts. It always seemed like the sheer magnitude of tackling building that craft outweighed the rewards. But after seeing James's great photos complete with flight and ground crews I am sure you had to be impressed by WNW 's projected 2010 rollout of this legendary aircraft. The Gotha will be my main focus next year and probably into 2011 as I covet the twin engined Gotha project as a dream since I built the K&B (Aurora) 1/48 Gotha in the late 1970's and never had the nerve to tackle the Copper State 1/48 Gotha G-III. Based on the photos I would be most eager to read your feelings and comments about the 2010 1/32 WNW Gotha G-lV. Do you plan on building it and if so of which aircraft?

Hey Robert - what about the Modelcasters resin sets
Modelcasters did a resin nose, prop and wheels for the Viper engined SE5a. Thats got to be easier than scratchbuilding surely?
I don't think Wingnut will be doing a Viper engined SE5a anytime soon.
regards
James
