Modelcasters did a resin nose, prop and wheels for the Viper engined SE5a. Thats got to be easier than scratchbuilding surely?
I don't think Wingnut will be doing a Viper engined SE5a anytime soon.
regards
James
I looked around for a 1/32 Viper conversion- I guess I missed this somehow! Tell me more! Website?
As for the Gotha- yeah- I'm waiting to see how the WNW kit turns out. Even after all these years, I still have that "Gotha Thing" going on.From the photos I've seen so far, it looks really nice. Way back when I built mine, the main problem was research, especially the insides- I'm very curious about how WNW will treat the innards.
And a 1/32 Gotha isn't really THAT big............

pictures I have birthed: RK’s Pfalzhood - Pfalz, Halberstadt, Nieuport, CAMEL!!!
I'm new here but wanted to share a few photos I took from the weekend. Though I'm not an aircraft man I can appreciate quality and was blown away by the display the Wingnut team had put on as part of their first official modelling launch.
I've attached some photos and hope you find them useful. I've tried not to double up on those taken by James, so trust these support what he has added.
By the way, John Belcher, another top rated NZ figure modeller has painted many of the figures (as well as Nic Moore). You can find more of his work on PlanetFigure vbench.
The figures are sculpted by the Perry Brothers of the UK and they have created some wonderful characters that will perfectly compliment the aircraft. I understand they will be offered in a range of options - some as part of 'Special release' kits like the Gotha, some as unpainted 'group set' kits & some as pre-painted collectors items. All aimed at encouraging diorama building.
Are these helpful?
Kind regards,
Mike

P.S. I can't post the image links but you can get them at my Photobucket album, just add http:// to the beginning of each link here
Welcome to the 'Drome and thanks for the extra photos and info on the figures. I have only ever painted 28mm wargaming figures so the Wingnut figures are going to be a steep learning curve.
Now that I think about it, many of my 28mm soldiers were also sculpted by the Perrys. Fancy that! They are really very talented guys.
Regards
James

Sing out if I can help in any way James, I have some experience in these and would be happy to assist if I can. You've got some great figures to choose from and like anything, with a little practice I'm sure you will surprise yourself - at least you don't have to assemble and detail them! ;-)

Thanks for the photos. I thought the figures had the look of the Perry Twins about the sculpting. The Perrys were doing some specially commissioned work for Peter Jackson so it's no surprise they got involved in the whole Wingnuts extravaganza. I can't wait for these - I'm a figure modeller as well so the idea of a 1/32 Gotha diorama is quite tempting......
