p.s. Question: as you complete wingnut models, what do you do with your old revell and aurora kits? relegate them to a lower shelf?
As with all stashed kits, the make for a super roof-isolation in the loft!

Sudden thought — what if the "delay" in releasing the next batch of kits is due to Wingnut trying to solve their UK shipping problem?

It's not just a UK shipping problem. Happens throughout Europe. Here in the Netherlands the percentage extra we pay is can be higher than anywhere else I've come across, and the last package (the LVG) my friend here in Arnhem got was held up 5 weeks by Customs.

Next release

Windsock 25/5 has an interview with WNW and ther are boxes of RE8s on the shelves! They have been trying to help shave off customs costs too.

And the next kit? Is an EINDECKER!

Paul.
That's correct. It takes very long to clear Customs. With taxes and handling costs of Customs the price of a kit almost doubles! As far as I know Dutch Customs has a kill-rate of 100%! Nevertheless I bought all 4 kits!

Does WnW send through courierservice or regular / surface mail? Maybe that could make a difference...

T hey tried regular air mail (non tracked) for my friend, the first kit (SE5a) having taken 2 weeks by the tracked courier method and being hit. But instead it took 5 weeks and was still hit. When my F2b was delivered by the old method I noted it took 3 days to reach the Netherlands, then was held 10 days before I had to stump up 34 euros at the door to prevent the postman from taking it away again. Altogether, not very satisfactory.

Ref the latest Windsock and the excellent article and interviews with Peter Jackson and Richard Alexander, just a couple of teeasers from photos accompanying the article:

Fokker E II or III
Pfalz D XII
Both clearly seen on monitors as graphic design images.

In one photo someone has an on-screen photo of what looks very much like a Salmson two-seater. I stress that this is a photo of the real thing and not a design image - so it might just be his screen saver!! Sadly, no sign of a Macchi M5.....(yet!!)

I'll say no more about the article to save spoiling it for W/S subscribers, but if you don't already subscribe, you really should treat yourself!

Oh, and the next Datafile is the LVG CVI, which replaces the original one. Looking forward to that!!

The Windsock article is very interesting but Ray did not ask the most obvious question that we all want the answer to......WHEN? They say they have 20 aircraft 3D modelled and "going through the process" and 200 (yes 200!) figures "sub mastered". But Ray did not ask what the release schedule is, or even at least when the ones that we already know about will be coming out. He let us down there IMO! Still it's a fascinating article and Peter Jackson's philosophy (put superdetailed models in the grasp of the average modeller) really appeals. It's going to be pretty much Wingnuts only for me from now on.....

Cheers,

Nigel
