Dan San: You have just given WW1 aircraft modelers a complete treat. A glimpse into one of the most remarkable aircraft of the Great War. The Rumpler's with their Mercedes and Maybach engines set frequent altitude records constantly piercing the coveted 20,000 foot ceiling for its era that gave the Allies a set of headaches whereby they lacked an aircraft that could reach the altitudes that this wonderful aircraft could attain to conduct observation and reconaissance. Imagine the helpless feeling Allied air commanders had in trying to down this robust climber that was so elusive. Wingsnuts has cleverly factored into their product line for a later release one of Germany's most effective aircraft. Dan San you are light years ahead in your research of this great aircraft and now we all can share and understand this effective two seater that takes a back seat to no other aircraft of the conflict. Thanks for the detailed and varied understanding of the Rumpler C lV. We anxiously await the Wingnuts team to distribute this plane.

I know the Rumpler was guessed to be a Wingnut Release in the future. Has anybody actually been able to confirm if they will actually produce one?

Captain: Dan San in post #161 of this thread concluded a Rumpler may be on the drawing board. He's been close to spot on in ascertaining the future releases. But I don't think that it's been verified or confirmed. However that aircraft would be a good one to include in their product line.

Rumpler lower wing drawing.

Hi Captain A:
How this was arrived at, are two pieces of information, they are:
I was asked a question about camouflage colors used in the Ru.CIV air craft by a person who is connected with this project. That arroused my interest.
The second piece of information came in a photos of the people working in the various offices, one of which was the detail assempby drawing Rumpler C.IV series right lower wing panel fastened to the wall above his desk. This is not a framed drawing that might be a decoration but tacked or taped to the wall. I would guess the drawing was in 1.5 scale, a large drawing.
So Adding 1 and 2 together I got 3, and a very strong suspicion they have the Rumpler C.IV or which one of the family, they all have the same wings as one of their project inthe works. My guess 2011 or 2012.
It is just an educated guess.

I would assume the most likely candidate would be the C.IV which can be done with different noses and morphed to the C.VII.

However, I really like the Rumpler C.I.

Any of the Rumpler C series would be great. But I would really, really love to see a Roland C.II or an AEG G.IV. Many years ago, I played the Avalon game, "Richthoffen's War" The Roland C.II was one of the better planes. I also fell in love with the great lines of it. I have many of the Eduard kits, but would love to do it in 32nd scale.

Captain and David you both make solid points about your preferences for the next Wingnuts releases and both make sense. For example David alludes to a Rumpler C-l as preferred. That's a good point since Wingnuts may benefit from rolling out an early war German two seater since they already have released the later war LVG and Junkers kits. Although I'm still partial to a Maybach powered C-Vll high altitude reconaissance flyer or at least a 260 hp Mercedes powered C-lV. As for Captain's point about the AEG G-lV, my favorite German twin engined bomber as well, I have always felt that the AEG bomber despite lacking the range of the Gotha and Friedrichshafen bombers has a great appeal because of its remarkable for its day welded tubular steel frame design that endeared it to German pilots/crews as not only a safe but reliable twin engine bomber. Quite simply the AEG personifies German engineering at its best: a solid twin Mercedes powered efficient and dependable running craft. The Gotha G-V gets the nod from Wingnuts witness its hotly anticipated rollout in 2010 and rightfully so as it earned its reputation flying many sorties over England in the famed bomber offensives of 1917-18. The AEG, however, is not without a well known reputation despite its smaller bomb carrying capacity and shorter range. Its robustness and strength during critical landings earns it a reputation as being very servicable and worthy of depiction at 1/32. It's a cult like hot seller at 1/48 in the Sierra Scale now Aeroclub kit as well as the hugely popular Hi Tech model. I almost fell to tears when I read a 1/8 AEG model crashed for its owner on the RC range. Lets hope the AEG and a Rumpler are on the too be released list down the line. As for the Roland C-ll it might be muscled out by its younger brother, the DVl-A in late 2010. Only time will tell but its a blast to try to guess particularly when you anticipate your favorite planes of the Great War.

Hi Jefman:
Every morning after breakfast, I go to my den and check my mail> Before that, I open the Wingnut Wings Website, hoping to find the Albatros D.V and the Sopwith Pup on line. Every morning I am dissapointed. There are 6 days to 1 December, it would seem prudent for WNW to get in gear for Christmas on that date. However, I will not hold my breath. Have a nice Thanksgiving Day. I am going to watch the Raiders kick the crap out of the Cowboys. I do like those Dallas Cowgirls, they are very easy on the eye.
