Guys,
FYI, these short kits have laser cut parts for all of the hard stuff like formers and ribs. *Just add your strip wood and sheeting and spars and you've got yourself a nice model. *I have the Albatros kit and am tempted to start on it right now and put my lingering Fokker D.VII project on the back table...

Do these short kits include the cowl or spinner? If so, are they fiberglass or plastic?

Mike,
The Albatros spinner can be gotten from either Arizona Model Aircrafters or Proctor Enterprises. *Both are metal. *Some assembly required on both, I believe. *I used to have the Proctor Albatros kit but I can't remember exactly what work was required to attach the spinner to the backplate. *The cowling on David's Fokker came from Arizona Models, and it's aluminum. *Glenn Torrance has a very nice cowl kit as well that would work. *I believe the Flair triplane cowling would work well, too. *It's plastic.

Hi Lyle, Can't wait to start mine either. Davids kit can't be beat for the price and I know it will be a great flyer. Just have to finish my Spad 7 first. Then there is the Balsa USA Nieuport 17 kit I have sitting in my workshop. I think I'll have to sell that now though. Oh well, so much to do and so little time! Who's A/C will you finish your Alb. DIII like?

Hi John!
This one is going to be really cool. I'm thinking of doing Lowenhardt's with the wavy line on fuse and top wing. Since it's an OAW machine I'll need to get that rounded rudder plotted out. Your Spad is gorgeous! That work around the nose looks dead-on. I know what you mean by having too many models, it's actually kind of nice to be in that situation!
Are you planning on being at Rhinebeck this year? David wants me to finish that D.VII and bring it up...

Hi Lyle, Yes, I am planning on Rhinebeck. I hope to have the Spad at your Dawn Patrol meet in July. Glad you picked an OAW Alb. I have also picked one which is Kurt Wusthoff's. DJ said he will supply the rudder drawing. Thanks for the complements on the Spad I hope it flys well. Hope you get the D.VII done. Have a great day. Cheers!

Mike, Sorry about being tardy with my reply but I was traveling on business. Lyle and John filled in the gaps for you I believe. The plane in the picture has a fiberglass spinner with a plastic back plate. If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail and I will gladly answer them. I hope to have a web site up and running soon. I will shortly also have plans and parts for the Sopwith Camel and SSW dIII.

Lyle, John, Thanks for the kind words. John, I look forward to seeing you at our Dawn Patrol fly-in in July! Hope you get the Spad done.
