Thanks Philippe & Mike,

I really do love the PART photo-etched sets, BUT they are seriously lacking in one department: Instructions....If you do not have good references you could be lost.........The Ni.28 set has many parts that are for post war aircraft only, as does the Roden kit itself!
Good for me as I plan on doing a post war 28 in the future......

The Neiuport 28 & the Pfalz D.III/IIIa aircraft are two of my all time favorite aircraft! So when Wingnut relases their D.IIIa I'm down for a stack! And maybe a divorce or at least a good beating to go along with them?
I have two of the Roden Pfalz D.III kits in the stash!

Amazing work ! SO neat too. It is very instructional for me to see the whole assembly together like that, ready for insertion in to the (tube) fuselage halves.

Especially for me since while this IS one of the series simplier kits interms of Part numbers and ease of contruction, it has long fallen towards the bottom of the Build Stack.

The PART fret for it is outstanding, but as well I personaly havent gotten to it so it is an Awesome pleasure to see you use it and especilly put together so well.

Based on these teasers I shall be salivating to see the rest as it comes together !!!

Yours Mike
One thing I forgot Mike, or anyone using this set....clip off the main struts that protrude below the box structure.....You wont notice them missing once the fuselage is closed up anyway, the Ni.28 really does have a small hole of a cockpit.(You can do this once the set is togeter, as it is very strong)..otherwise you'll have problems getting it to fit (I beleive it will not slide into the tube at all) I removed the plastic from the fuselage center section also...

Fuselage

Here are a few photos of the fuselage before I close it up.....The veneer strip effect was achieved by brush painting wood color (Model Master) in different shades by adding white..... on clear decal film....do not worry about coverage...just slap it on & move it around...let it dry overnight & cut into strips & apply...........
This is what I like to call subtly overdone, without doing so...you would never see any of this once the fuselage is closed up....

The exterior with a few PART photo-etched doodads counter sunk into the plastic....

I wish I had checked these photos before I closed up the fuselage.....Not the best............

Ken,
Absolutely beautiful cockpit and internal details.I'll be following your thread with great interest as the Nieuport 28 is one of my favorites.

Pinned Everything gets pinned

Well moving right along, I almost always cut all the control surfaces free & I like to drill & pin everything with a stout, but flexible wire so the control surfaces may be positioned to correspond to the controls later in the build plus the strength & positive alignment it adds is a big plus.......Another note It may just be me???
But I didn't like the way Roden had the ailerons molded so I reduced the gap between the inner edges.........

More to follow very soon I hope!

Ken

Moving right along ever so slowly.....

I have the interior installed and the fuselage buttoned up with the wings attached....I have also done a lot of work on the Vickers MGs.....as I said before most everything is pinned and ready to drop in place....makes for much less cussing once everything is painted & screw-ups are more costly...........

Modified Vickers on the left & kit part on the right......

Vickers on the right is in its final form.....

Drop fit with a little wiggle room once the cement is added...
