Hobbycraft Fokker Dr.1 in 1/32 review, o.k. or unbuildable?

Boy the wings are terrible as is the interior. Has anyone out there build this kit and made the corrections needed to fix it? Should I bother with this kit or pitch it in the junk pile? Thanks

Isn't that the old Revell 1/28th kit?

I think i just built that one.

Hi,

I just posted some pics i did of a Hobbycraft Dr.1 on the box it has werner Voss's plane flying at you. I liked the kit as it gave you the option to turn it into a Dr.1 or an F.1, it came with the two different tails and also the exrta ailerons plus a second prop. It's a fairly simple kit it didn't have any photo etched peices, is this the same kit. I've posted some pics this was the first build i had done for 15 years.

Save the engine and the decals for any conversion work and put the rest into liquid glue to make filler. That's the best you can do with this kit.

No Mike----it is'nt a 'panto' down---it's just a very, very poor effort. With an awful lot of work it could be made to look nice-----in the same way the old Aurora 48th. ones can---but it needs loads of TLC--I've got one waiting for just that.........

Dave.

Once upon a time Hobbycraft had their own 1/28 scale version which indeed was a direct copy of the Revell's version - sans asymetric ailerons but with all other problems of the Revell Dr.I.

Here you can take a look on a built 1/32 version:
SlotForum -> trackside secenery - Fokker Dr 1 in 1/32

Making it as a toy, the best idea for this kit. Beside the ugly rib representation it's the far too flat fuselage (or too low turtle deck) which completely spoils this model.

I'm thinkin.... stuff a firecracker in front of the pilot, light it, and send the poor fellow on his last flight. What a horrible, little model.
