Mike, your Albatros look´s very good to me, but a softly fingertip on your shoulder,................the panel under the engine is NOT A METAL PANEL, it's wood like the rest of the fuselage. Don't make a mistake.

And a wisper in your ear: The marking with sword and ID-number is really very nice

Umlauf I so apriecate the whisper and correction.

I will take that into consideration to change. Until the Langing gear struts go on I have a chance to fix that ?

I ve struggled with that panel before with Rodens Kits. Ive seen the Crash photos of a Alb and yes it did like wood, but it was so hard for me to tell by the way they molded the panel line there under the nose.

I have a much older build of a ALb D.III I was making in Austro Hungarian Camo but GOT STUCK and put the project on the shelf for lack of a Damiler Engine. So it is still not finished yet.

Anyway IS this the correct way it should be ?

Yours MIke

No significant progess to report on. Was home for a few days last week. I ve been spending more days at work overtime for the season. Just taking care of nagging details before I can get it up into a AeroCub Jig like Galloway's georgeous N28 Build going on there.

Bertl this is for you. I "repaired" the Engine (Cowl) Underside. The picture above is from another uncompleted Alb.D.III build, but all 3 of the Roden Albatros Moldings have the same fuselage.

I Re-Scribed a panel line for the Nose Ring underneath the nose and all the way around which the Kit does not do. It was a much smaller area than I thought and the repair went quick. I painted it with the lightened Wood Base. Laid the WE005 Decal on it and gave it's top coat wash of Future mixed with a thinned "Clear Yellow" from Gunze.

I got the forward Wing Fairings in but I had to leave before I could get the rear fairings on.

I got the National Cross top and BOttom Wing on. I understand now the Problems reported with some Early Roden Decals. They were SO thin they "Shattered" in to Slivers as soon as they touched the Water. Luckly I had three decal sets. SO I found another pair for the bottom from the Roden D.I kit and I trimed a set for the Top wing from the Encore Kit. I havent finshed their top coat to seal the whole wing but I will do that when I go home and have more PE on.

I got the PE installed on the Bottom of the Top wing and have been working on the rest. I am taking my time to get it right on the EIGHT (8) (Ocho) (Acht) Strut Attachemnt Points. Typical of "PART" they can go to the Extreme on the Smallest of Sub-Assemblies. Where the Kit Part is a sublte Molded in of a Diamond Plated "Hump" on the Wings. But OH No ! The Wing Attachment hardware for PART is a SIX Piece Assembly including 2 PE Turnbuclkes. Doesnt sound Bad ? OH did I already mention times that by EIGHT ? Of course also Five out of the Six Pieces Are some of the Minuteist's ? Tinyest Parts on the Fret Like a mm or a half in size.
If it werent for a Friend in Canada who sent me a set of Q-Tip Like sticks only except of Cotton tips they have a rounded end covered in Bee's Wax which picks up these tiny little parts so they can be handled by tweezers and or just carried around to be placed where they are supposed to go.
Anyway the hard part is over with those assemblies and i will have them finished the next time I look at them and ready for the WIng Jig.

YOurs Mike
