Hi, looks great. Making a new tail unit didn;t seem too painful, but I thought I'd note that if anyone has the 'Special Hobby' kit of the Sopwith Schneider it includes a spare tail unit correctly shaped for the later Schneiders/Sopwith Baby. One could build the Special Hobby kit as an early Schneider, and use the spare tail unit to correct the Baby. I happen to lazily be doing just that with mine!

Hi there!
A little update on my Baby.

Here you can see ("guess" would be more appropriate) the difference between a weathered wing (left) and the plain one. Weathering was done using oil paint (dark brown) mixed with thinner and applied grossly on the plastic surface, then the excess was brushed of with a flat brush in the wind flow.

And then the details and weathering of the floats.

And I went back to the propeller.

Then I started on the national markings.
Vhat iz ziss? Krosses?
Yep, that's a Baby captured intact by the Germans on march,24 1916. This is Lt Haig aircraft which, following an engine failure, had to land on sea near the Belgian coasts. Thankfully for him, a Short saw him stranded on the water and came to pick up the aviator.
Nice of the crew to drop by, but unfortunately, their own aircraft was unable to restart their engine.
Bam, 3 aviator POW and 2 aircraft captured.

Le résultat final:

Ciao

PS The good thing about the kit decals is that they provided a serial for a Sop Baby flying in the middle east as 8135, and luckily for me (and which prompted me to do the version) the captured plane had 8153 as a serial.

Last stage of the weathering (I think )
Done with black oil paint "drawn" with a brush into the wind flow.

Ciao
IWik, starting to drill plenty of holes!

Awesome job so far!
On everything.

Did you use foil to cover the cowl?
I am always rat holing away anything that looks useful for a build, like different foils to experiment with, copper wire, clear plastic packaging, small screen, brass shim stock, anything that might come in handy.

Cheers, Jay
