Beautiful build. I like the streaking, too. Fine dirt around the engine. Congratulations!

Andy,
For me you've got the look and feel of that machine, remembering how petite that Eduard Fokker is, absolutely spot on! Did you encounter, as a "newbie" to WW1, any undue problems re undercarriage construction or strut alignment as so many have reported? Hope you plan to utilise the rest of Rowan"s fantastic decals - how about a Jasta 12 lineup?! With the impressive weathering techniques you've used a diorama beckons, No? |

Gents, thank you all for the comments, I was very unsure of posting it after seeing some of the magnificent models on here. I have to mention, though he might not know it, I've been very much inspired in this direction by Rowans enthusiasm for this era of flight. His Roland that he posted ages ago on another forum and a few emails got me hooked. So thanks Rowan!
 Just one more pic from above  bstachel, Rowan supplies a very nice plan for a jig with these decals, this helps with getting the undercarriage strut length correct. It is printed on self-adhesive paper and I cut it out and made the jig from plastic card. The model is a very good fit in the jig as you can see in this photo, all I did was strengthen the upright sections with more card so I could keep the jig for more long term use.  This was the first time I've attempted streaking so it took a lot of reading back through the posts on this forum to get a picture of how it was done on the real thing. I'm not quite sure I've got it right! All I did was to spray the linen colour (I think a lightened Vallejo Buff), then using a piece of card held slightly off the surface - which causes a soft overspray - sprayed some diagonal bands with Vallejo Russian Green. I then used an inch wide artists hogs hair fan brush and very lightly dragged it across. I've then used washes of green to blend in the linen and the green. finally I've gone back over some of the sections with buff. It's a little bit more complicated than I've written as I repeated the process to get denser colours here and there and I've gone back in in places with the airbrush closed right down but essentially that's how I did it.
