Hello David,
I think this method will serve you well.
Be sure to post pictures on here when she is finished.

Cheers,

I buy my brass tube from www.jbmodels.eu
They supply a very good product at a very good price.
The 0.5mm tube has a 0.33mm hole
The 0.4mm tube has a 0.22mm hole
The hole diameter is very acurate and I have found is constant throughout the length of the tube.

I have drilled out the 0.5mm tube to have a 0.4mm hole, it drills easily but needs to be held tight when drilling, I have also drilled out the 0.4mm to have a 0.3mm hole.

Happy modelling

Des

In the jb webpage under categories go to materials, that is where the brass tube is located.

I just ordered some of that tubing from Austria as well. Out of stock at the moment, but I can wait.

A new source for micro brass tubing...

At the latest SMW in Telford was a stand of Albion Alloys (search for Albion Alloys). The representative handed out free pack of tubing containing one each of 0.3mm and 0.5mm (30cm long). The 0.5mm has a 0.3mm inner diameter (probably a bit larger as the 0.3mm slides through easily.) The inner diam of the 0.3 isn't mentioned, but it is around 0.1mm or a bit smaller. (I couldn't get 2x 0.06mm monofilaments through, I use for my 1/48 mainly 0.06mm)

I normally used for tubing syringe needles (got a large stock from a lot that got damaged at work in a water leak, once moistened they aren't sterile anymore and as such worthless), but these won't last forever and are very hard to cut, especially for such small lengths of 3mm, so these tubings could be a godsend. The rigidity of regular needles is very fine for pitot tubes and other long protruding and easy breakable stuff on models...

Albion Alloys is what I normally use, but my local model shop has trouble getting it in any quantity. I will see what this tubing is like from Austria. If it is good I will be sticking with them

I've been talking a bit with him (He was also at the IPMS Belgium Nationals this year) and they were hard at work finding distributors, in fact it was the main reason for him attending both shows... So who knows...

keep your eyes open i'm working on a new method, and developing a product that will not require drilling at all and still allow the use of monofilament.Dont want to talk to much until I have copyrights and final product.I think it will be the next big rigging breakthru.
