Just a little up-date on what I have done so far. After a lot of tedious work, strained eyes, sore back and not so nimble fingers I finally finished the wicker seat. The cockpit floor has just been painted with oils so after a few days of drying it will be clear coated. The fuel tank still needs more work.

Des,
Fantastic work! How did you cobble up the seat? Wire? Miliput for the leather padding?
Cheers,

What technique did you use for your wood rendreing?

Wow! - That's probably the best wicker seat I've ever seen. Can you show us your technique?

Thanks guys for your comments, much appreciated.
The seat was cobbled using 0.17mm monofilament (fishing line) and the padding was made using Miliput putty.
The wood look was achieved by first painting a base coat of Gunze 318 Radome. After drying I applied a thinned out coat of Raw Sienna artists oil using a small stiff brush.
The "cane" on the seat is painted with Gunze Middlestone 71 and the seat pad and top padding was painted with Gunze Red Brown 47. The seat pad was weathered with a little very thinned black. The seat was then coated with two coats of flat clear.
I'm happy with the way the seat ended up, it was only my second go at making a wicker seat, the first was in my DH.2
Thanks again
Des.
Thanks Bob, I like the nickname "wicker man"

OK, so obviously this is a major achievement of some sort, but I have no idea why. Is this a plastic or CGI model? What makes wicker so difficult to render?

Also the engine and the propeller is wonderful that I like very much.

Clearly, sightreader, you haven't woven a wicker seat yourself. I have made two recently and they took about two evenings each. *Very* fiddly work. Des' seat is faultless. Makes me want to do a third, better, one myself. I really like your colours on the seat and cushion Des. Well done and thanks for posting your progress photos!
Happy Modelling
James
