WNW Bristol F.2b Fighter

I have started my third WNW kit, this time it is the Bristol F.2b Fighter. I decided to start at the front end just for something different. Here are a few pics of the Rolls Royce Falcon engine to be fitted to the model, also fitted is the Vickers gun tube. The radiator will be next along with the water hoses.

Bristol engine

Did you follow the kit suggested colors for the engine? You really done a great job detailing and weathering (with a dilluted wash?)how did you get the realistic color tones for the exhaust? I am looking forward to more of your photos as your build progresses.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.

Andy - For the brass colour I use "liquid gold leaf", I get it from a craft shop, if brushed it goes on very smooth and is quick drying, it sprays well also. I have also seen this paint in hardware shops in the craft section.

Plane fanatic - The engine is painted as per the instructions with only a few minor alterations. The exhaust is painted using Humbrol matt rust No. 113 (airbrushed) then I use the lead dust from a propelling pencil brushed on using a small stiff brush, the more you dust the darker it will become, overcoat with matt clear when finished. Rub the lead on a bit of fine wet and dry paper to get the dust.

I finally finished the engine for my WNW Bristol. I have added a lot of extra plumbing along with plug leads. The prop still requires a few coats of gloss clear.

Cheers.
