Hi Dwayne , Thanks. The rigging is acual wire. It's unwound ground wire from old EKG leads that were discarded from where I work. Just a few leads is a life time supply. Gary

Hi,

It's a representation of the 'strirated' layered effect-laminations as on all wood props.----more pronounced on German than Allied by use of (I believe this is right) Ash and mahogany
Oh really? I was sure that props were painted with stripes – just for fun.

Ok, I am joking...but you did this first.

I know that propellers had lamination structure consisting of different kinds of wood (usually). Talking about “white and brown effect” I meant how this structure is represented in Goschmidt’s model or - to be more precise - how it looks in pictures linked in his first post. I believe that somewhat unnatural appearance of the propeller visible in the pictures is not a mistake of Goschmidt (otherwise the model would not win the second place) but only color effect caused by artificial light given by flash.

Regards

Marek

My apologies Marek--I took your question too literally.

The prop was first painted lt buff . Then a barrier coat of future. Then by looking at a photo of a prop in Squadron's book on the Albatros , I carefully painted a leather color. Another coat of future with a final coat of clear yellow. I've seen better, but this was my first attempt. Someday I'd love to do one out of real wood. Gary

And a superb first attempt Gary---bloody hell, I still struggle after hundreds of attempts--in all scales...

Hi Gary,
Nice pictures of nice models--love the P40 on their heading---can't beat a sharkmouth P40----'though especially in R.A.F. colours.
