Wingnut SE5a

Gentlemen, as a long time quiet follower of the Aerodrome, I would like to share my Wingnut Wings SE5a, finished at the weekend after a seven months build.

The model is OOB, brush painted with home mixed Humbrol enamels for PC10 and Clear Doped Linen. The workbench is from an 1/35th Italeri field accessories set ( close enough for the task). The 1917 copy of the Daily Mirror was sourced from Google!

I have just learnt how to upload images so this is my first photo post to The Aerodrome. Fingers crossed it works!

Kind regards

Dave Wilson

Dave...welcome to the aerodrome. Good to have another model maker on board.

Your Se5 looks great...well done mate! Extra congratulations on cracking the code for posting photos. Been working on that one for over two years...STILL can't figure it out.

Looking forward to more of your work.

Dave,

Welcome to the Aerodrome, mate. Great build. I just ordered my WNW SE5a on Monday, and ordered an Eduard Photo etch kit on Tuesday (OUCH on the postage - see the thread on Eduard PE kit for this aircraft).

I've only just started modelling WW1 aircraft, and can only hope to get as good an effort out of my work. Keep it up.

One question...does the WNW kit have a canopy that is optionally fitted on the aircraft or removed to display the engine, or did you remove the engine cover, and scratch build one to sit on the table?

Most Excellent!

Simply beautiful. May I ask what you used for the rigging?

Lovely job Dave, beautiful. I notice that you've 'fabric wrapped' the centre section struts - any tips? Nice touch with the tea stained Daily Mirror, mind you that cuppa looks a bit iffy

Very nice Dave

Like you I am a brush painter and its great to see a quality finish with the brush. Lovely diorama, especially the Daily Mirror. I just bought the WNW SE5a in the weekend (last of the four WNW kits to make the stash) so your build is inspiring.

Welcome to The 'Drome from EnZed

Fabulous! I also am a brush painter and the WNW SE5a is getting close to the top of my pile. I was slightly worried about getting a good smooth finish on such a large area but you have shown us it can be done. Superb modelling, well done indeed.

Cheers,

Nigel
