Lohner Typ Mkn S30 (1/72, Choroszy)

I want to present you a couple of photos of my recent build. It took me ages to complete, another record of mine in time spent on one model - 10 weeks. The only thing that kept me alive working on this horrid resin kit was the sheer beauty of the subject. Pfeilflieger from Lohner, especially the flying boats, have a special appeal in my opinion. So I passed through filling a lot of spaces in hull and wings, which were so infested with air bubbles that seemed like a sponge. I replaced most of the struts with Contrail profiles and wire sections. I added some extra items like control horns, throttle control installation, some plumbing in the engine, etc. And here comes the final result for your assessment.
However, I must admit, there is one positive thing about resin as a modelling material. It is semi-transparent! So there is some effect in this model, that we pursue so eagerly, of the translucency of linen covered flying surfaces. Still, a long time will surely pass before I reach for a resin kit again...

At the end I wish to express my greatest thanks to Kees (Varese2002) who helped me so much with his knowledge on the subject. Without his help this model would still rest in my store of to-be-built kits.

Flying boat model

Przemol, Your model is absolutely stunning. I recently bought a Wings 72nd similar vauform model & your model photos are an inspiration for when I get to work on it. THANKS so much for posting so many photos. Also could you post a photo or two of the wheeled carriage please. It looks very interesting to me . Thank you. Carl T

Fabulous

Hi PrzemoL:
I have grown to expect a super fine model from you. I love the translucency
of the wings. It looks absolutely real. that is without a doubt a 5 star model.
I like the colors of Austrian military and naval aircraft. I have done a multi-view color drawing of the DFW B.I in Austrian service. I would say the results of 10 weeks of effort has rewarded you with a Master piece!
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Lohner S30

Just gorgeous.

I've a Choroszy R-boat in the stack but can't imagine getting close to this. These resin kits do lend themselves to delicacy in appearance but are big modelling challenges.

Cheers,

Twoja praca jest na najwyższym poziomie. Zgadzam się, że warto było podejmować wysiłki, aby zbudować model tego pięknego samolotu.

10 weeks to build? I would need ten years to obtain that quality. Stunning!
