"I Am Kong"

It aired a couple of times on TCM, and it's included in the "original" Kong DVD. Nice doc.

For Lufbury

In several books about Rickenbacker, including his own book "Fighting the Flying Circus" there are detailed accounts of him being filmed air to air in his Spad attacking a captured Hannover 2 seater. The aerial cameraman in question is named as Captain Merian C Cooper. As this took place in October 1918 it brings into question the entire incident as Captain Cooper was definitely shot down and made a POW on September 26th!

Yes, the life of a stunt pilot-- Grab-a-Grannie night at the Garforth Hilton, and the triumph of the bog-man. More dangerous than it sounds.

ooh yes, I forgot all about the dastardly deeds of the prowling bog-man.
Shame they didnt make a documentary of the making of the movie, it would have been a hoot.

Flyboys Aerial Co-ordinator Ray Hanna AFC

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ray Hanna.

UK based Old Flying Machine Company were appointed as the aerial co-ordinators for the movie Flyboys and Ray Hanna was the Aerial Co-ordinator, supported by his daughter Sarah Hanna in the role of Aerial Unit Production Assistant.

More information can be found at www.ofmc.co.uk

I had read about Ray many times in magazines, but never thought I would meet him until "Flyboys" came along, and he was our aerial coordinator. When we were flying it was usually his voice on the radio saying, "They want you to do that again, only 20 feet lower this time."
During the off times and at the pubs it was fascinating listening to him talk about the relative flying characteristics of the various warbirds or early jets, or about his beloved rugby team, the New Zealand All Blacks--

A huge loss for the aeroplane world, and for those who knew him.

In Empire of the Sun, Ray was the pilot in the P-51 that flew past Jim waving his hand. To me that was the most beautiful airplane scene in any movie I've seen. In slow motion, wagging his wings with the canopy back. The entire airfield attack scene is spetacular. Sorry to hear he's gone.

"King Kong"

Well, I saw the new "King Kong" last night -- aerial images of the Helldivers pretty cool, if a little control-waggly -- but alas, no preview of the upcoming "Flyboys."
