Helldivers
The Helldivers are real cool. Full size from original plans. Two were built. When I saw them, one was being pulled down after being used for the movie, the second was being rushed to completion - I assume for external shots, taxiing, take-off, etc, after which they will switch to CGI. Markings as per originals. Not sure as to motors, but they are Full Size reproductions. Much more sexy than Naomi!

Am I to assume from this thread that "King Kong" is being made for the 3th time?
And which Helldiver, The mono or bi plane?

The original
BTW, if you're trying to find the "original" King Kong on video, forget it for the time being. The movie has been withdrawn. It's being completely restored digitally, with the best match prints the producers can find. Same team that did North by Northwest. Estimated rerelease is about the time the "new" one comes out, and all say it's coincidence.

Re the "Helldiver" in the movie scene - I think it's supposed to be a Curtiss O2-C1.

Helldivers
Helldivers are the biplane - ties in with the period the film is set in. Have a couple of prints of the second one under construction but have to wait for the release before I can publish them here.
I would like to see one used as a centre piece ala "Hells Angles" for the release in - where else - New York.
