Thanks!

Hi ZZ!

Many thanks! I'll check this out I had bought a copy of RB3d from a guy on eBay, and it turned out to be a copy of RBII with a disc he supplies of upgrades. I could have saved $40 if I came here first. I have been looking at the web links you gave me, particularly Wings of Valor. I may be in touch if I have any questions. Thanks again for all your help!

Bob

Welcome to the forum boatingbob! The Turner Classic Movie channel schedule indicates that Dawn Patrol will be shown tomorrow, 27 September, at 10:00 am CDT. Set your recorder to capture this one if you can. It's one of the best!

I was looking for photos and/or drawings of Spandau machine guns and came across a photo one that did have a lever similar to the one that ol' George pulls in the movie. It looked more like a ground version than an air version. Not sure what it would do, but my thinking is that is was a cocking lever rather than a trigger lever. So maybe the directors took that to add some dramatic touches. I should have saved the pic to post... but if you do a search and Spandau guns you should come across it.

One interesting thing I found is that earlier Maxim/Spandau's did not have the curved drop at the top of the casing, but went straight back from the cooling tube. Most depictions show the later type with the curved drop.

I am working on a Halb DII and all photos in The Halberstadt Fighters book show the straight version.
