Jim Dietz is on his way to NY for the King Kong premier. He is the pilot of the Helldiver in the movie. Peter Jackson's way of keeping a historical precendent of having someone well known in the cockpit. If you want to feed your King Kong habit, see the following website.

Watch for an impromptu appearance of Peter Jackson as well, he likes to do the Alfred Hitchcock thing and show up as an extra somewhere. In a few scenes of the documentary, I noticed that he had shaved off the beard and mustache and cut his hair length. How much you wanna bet he shows up as a pilot in one of the helldivers?
BTW, the Tophatters transitioned to the SuperHornet already and last I knew were transferred to USS Stennis. Could be wrong though, these squadrons go everywhere without so much as a "by your leave."
Best regards,
Zeppelin

Received a package of drawings from Bob's Air Doc today. The F8C-4 drawings are by Wylam (Model Airplane News 1963) and it appears that he liked this aircraft. The "Top Hat" insignia is on an orange disc and the banding stripe is red instead of green. The ID is 1-F-10 instead of 1-F-13 indicating that this may be one of the items used as "research" material. It is enough to execute a card model from...,

Just for information, both replicas are non flyers. One is all nice and new looking and the other is heavily weathered. Not sure which aircraft but one will be housed at the new Aviation Historical Centre at Blenheim, New Zealand which is well on its way to completion with the assistance of Peter Jackson. Not sure what the plan is for the second.

It was great to see the rave reviews for Kong, after the screening for the critics, Even the ones who went in as cynics and skeptics, were awed.

That’s a bit of a tease! I look forward to hearing the details.
Can you share how you became involved in the project or any of Mr Jackson's exploits with regard to WWI replicas?

Gil,
Would you mind posting the catalog number for those drawings? Does he include any photos?
Thanks,
Mike
