'Merry Christmas'

Not really about WW1 Air combat. I've not heard anything about this movie until recently and I was wondering if any of our German Forumites have already seen it.

It's about the Christmas 1914 Ceasefire.

Doesn't look too bad...

Xmas 1914

Hello,

I've been there... in Belgium...
Yes - in 1998. Groups of Germans, Belgians (no Frensh!) and Scottsmen were celebrating (and re-playing) the unbelievable scene of Chrismas 1914: Germans, Frenchmen and Scottsmen were making peace between the lines, playing football, drinking etc....

The movie is 'not bad', but - unfortunately - some scriptplayers wanted to have a female in no-man's-land (ex-Helena from the Troja-movie)... sorry: the story is already unbelievable... but with this blond girl in no-man's-land it is absolutely un-un-believable!

Other details are good (like the male actors), the uniforms and the storry is not the black-and-white (bad-and-good; Germany against the world) one!

Thorsten

Ah thanks for that.

I'll have to see if I can go see it next weekend or so.

Thumbs up Christmas in March / April

I saw Merry Christmas last night and it was great! Going to see it a second time. It was very moving. My wife also loved it. Very little action, mostly the "Fraternizing". It looked so good too.

If someone had to work a woman into this script, they pulled it off fairly well. It's a very big stretch, but possible. 'cause she's got the hook ups with the Kaiser.

What also was nice was that it was realistically filmed in French, German and English. Not really leaning towards any particular language. There where French speakers in the audience who were laughing at the jokes way before I could read the subtitles.

I think the part I liked the most was looking over the audience and feeling that I was in good company.

My wife is looking out for the DVD, she liked it that much (It's got to come to DVD).

Downloaded the soundtrack off of iTunes too! Music by Philippe Rombi. The soundtrack stands very well on it's own. Go download it now!

All around fantastic movie.

Not one Aeroplane, but a couple of Blue Maxes. Oh, well. We got Fly Boys here soon.
