Man, Moment, Machine
Edelman Productions produces a series called Man, Moment, Machine for The History Channel. It is a documentary series that features an iconic individual and machine or technology and a moment in time when they come together for historical significance.
In an upcoming episode, Man, Moment, Machine will be looking at the life and death of Manfred von Richthofen. They would like to license images for use in the television show. If you feel you can help, please contact Rick Heeger at Edelman Productions.

Program Alert
The History Channel is now airing this series and an episode on the Red Baron is included. I have not yet seen it on the schedule. This program airs Tuesday evenings. Here's a link that will take you to a description of the Red Baron episode.

Yes!
(not all especially on topic, but how often do I get a chance like this? )
Count Zeppelin and the birth of strategic bombing/commercial air travel?
Tony Fokker, the synchronizer, and the Eindekker?
Rhozestvensky (or Togo) and the Pre-Dreadnought battleship?
Brandenberg and the Gotha bombers, or, even more obscure and exciting, Bentivegni, Rfa 501, and the R-planes?

Jim Burton- How about the critical role aircraft played in providing the decisive intelligence that developed into the French victory at the Marne and the German victory at Tannenburg? Both of these battles were absolutely elemental in laying the foundation for the remainder of the war.
It could also be pointed out the the trench stalemate itself could be largely attributed to aircraft. Brillant flanking manuevers and/or large scale surprise attacks were nearly an impossibility when both sides possessed the "high ground" and there were no secrets worth keeping.

The Three Careers of Igor Sikorsky: multi-engine a/c; seaplanes; helos.
Sergei, his son, has all kinds of info and always relates a well-told tale. Haven't seen him in well over a year but he keeps busy traveling & speaking.

10-11pm -- Man, Moment, Machine - The Red Baron & The
Wings of Death.
April 1917: the most feared pilot of World War I is at
the controls of the best fighter plane of the day. A
24-year-old legend at the top of his game, Manfred von
Richthofen is up against a new generation of enemy
aircraft designed to break the supremacy of the German
Albatros, the Sopwith Triplane. It will demand all of
the Red Baron's considerable skill just to survive.
Should be somewhat entertaining
regards,
Darren
