Aircraft of the Shuttleworth Collection
Just received my DVD today - Aircraft Of The Shuttleworth Collection produced by "Flying Machines".
No dodgy voiceover, no music, just the sight and sounds of these aircraft flying over old Warden.
The Bristol Boxkite was fantastic, very slow, but stable and impressive. The Sopwith Pup and Sopwith Triplane (replica) were very impressive, the Bristol M1C replica was less impressive but what a strange shape compared to the biplanes.
The Bristol fighter - wow, it made a sort of thrumming noise as it beat up the aerodrome, and the SE5A looked very lightly loaded as it flitted about.
The AVRO 504K performed well, but for real performance from biplanes the pre WW2 Hawker Hind and the WW2 Gloster Gladiator were incredible. The stars of course were the collection's Sea Hurricane and MkV Spitty, but what the hell, you can see Spitfires anywhere.
There is extra footage showing the LVG in flight - something that will never bee seen again as the RAF Museum has reclaimed their property and put it on static display.
The DVD is Region code 0, which means it should play in any machine (I think) and cost me £15 including postage - I cannot recommend it highly enough.
