Briggs' 'Snowman'? You can't avoid it if you're watching TV at Christmas here in dear ol' Blighty.
I never knew he'd drawn the Red Baron - just shows how his work's developed since then. For my money, I thought his 'The Tin Pot Foreign General and the Old Iron Woman' and 'When the Wind Blows' were the finest anti-war satires I've seen; hard-hitting but not cynical, they provided enduring images questioning the Falklands and Cold Wars.
Mind you, I also hugely enjoyed Bellamy's 'Heros the Spartan' when I was a sprog. So balance in all things is best, I guess; Mao's Little Red Book in one pocket, 'Mein Kampf' in t'other, renders me politically neutral.
Strewth, one too many tonight, I think.
