Flyboys 4th over weekend
Unfortunately, it appears "Jackass 2" had a far stronger showing at the box office than did Flyboys. If that represents a cross section of our culture, then I guess that's a good indicator of why we are losing our technological superiority.
1. "Jackass Number 2 ," $28.1 million.
2. "Jet Li's Fearless," $10.6 million.
3. "Gridiron Gang," $9.7 million.
4. "Flyboys," $6 million.
Sorry, I didn't see this info posted in the Flyboys thread...

That makes sense. I've heard that most people cannot name their state capitol, more than 20 states, or can even find Europe on a map of the world. Maybe if those folks start recreating the Jackass stunts, the gene pool will shrink and Darwin will be proven to be correct.
Here's hoping,
John

There was a time in this country when being educated was seen as something positive; I get sick to my stomach when I wonder about the future.

The numbers for next weekend will be more important, as they'll reflect whether the film has legs and whether the word-of-mouth helps.

I think my review is better put in this thread.
Hi All - Long time no type...
Saw it on Friday.
Thanks for making this movie. Attempts at historical accuracy are appreciated, diviations.....i'm sorry I just don't think it's necessary. I did become sentimental somewhat for the love interest(ahh she was cute c'mon)...only to have it go...well in the end, it seemed to waste time yes?
For all the efforts of "dumbing down" for the sake of a bigger audience we have the movie JACKASS in number 1 and this movie in number 4.
I'm sad for this, it seems we will not get all the spinoff movies 'NAM movies got in the 80's and WWII got in the 90's.
Could it be the Herd is just not into fighting for ...anything... anymore? That fighting just for the sake of adventure is just plain aberrant. People don't even want to defend themselves anymore, against anyone. Most people simply don't get the basics of this movie.
Face it out genre is way to anachronistic for the cabbage-patch-ticklemeelmo-tradeyourgunsforteddybears Generation. They'd rather see Johnny Knoxville stick a dinky car up his butt and see a protoligist.
Directors, scriptwriters, ANYONE please just pull one good STORY from WWI and do it WELL. Yes nowdays Eugene Bullards real story WOULD sell, could even make a tear-jerker and really get the female-phermones all crazy for it.

Talk show appearances?
Hi,
I'm curious to know about talk show appearances that the actors have made to promote the film. I don't watch much TV, but often have David Letterman or Conan O'Brien turned on in the background while I'm typing away at my computer or while I'm making balsa dust in the workshop.
I heard that James Franco was on "Regis & Kelly," but what other talk show appearances will the actors be making (or have they made already)?
Thanks
SL DIII

There ARE good screenplays out there! That is what is so FRUSTRATING! Not just mine, but I read a great one last year posted on TriggerStreet.com. It was ABOUT the Lafayette Escadrille! Although it too was fictitious, it was LOADS better than what got filmed!
First we have to get the directors, producers, and execs to look at new talent, and not just ask among their friends who has a friend with a script! It has to be left up to the Indy film makers, and usually money is a factor.
That's my rant and I'm sticking to it...
