Yes,

Matthias Schweighöfer looks a bit like a "Milch-Bubi".
Til Schweiger - playing Voss in the movie - would fit better for MvR.

I'm glad to see that they're including Voss. That angle should be interesting.

Taking Katie up in a Curtiss Jenny during their romance is beyond belief too. BTW, who was importing Jennys into Germany during the war?
We did not import Jennys. Two million cloned Red Barons with the same number of all-red triplanes invaded the USA in 1919 and stole all Jennys.
Beyond believe too? It does not matter - if it is entertaining!

Too bad they couldn’t find a young Rutger Hauer, I mean this guy looked just like Manfred von Richthofen in his younger days (the guy was born in ’44) he had the blond hair and all the sharp features. Oh well, I’m not complaining, but he would have been perfect for the part. It’s kind of scary when you think about it really.

The Red Baron

I most certainly agree, Rutger Haur would have been an excellent choice for the Red Baron, in his younger years of course, but he was too tall.

Oh yes, too tall indeed.

FliegerJG1- That reminds me. You asked where the quote on MvR being 5'4" originated. It is in Ed Ferko's Richthofen.

That's almost funny seeing that even T.E. Lawrence was taller than that.

...didn't Roy Brown describe Richthofen's body as 'a young blond boy' (sorry, I just can not find the right zitation). BTW Schweighöfer is 25 and Schweiger 42! Therefor the first has the right age.

Thorsten... already a senior in the eyes of Richthofen's men

Yes,

Schweighöfer has the right age but his young face can not show any signs of an earlier aging because of combat stress etc. IMHO an older actor is fitting because the most top pilots looked older at the end of their combat lifes.

Nevertheless its not that decisive for me and I hope the audience will accept this Richthofen. I think it´s a real challenge for young actor to play him.
