Cool Blue Max vs. Flyboys Film Mash Up

Rookie Rawlings becomes separated from his squadron after a heated battle. He inadvertently drifts over an unknown sector of the WW1 front lines. Newcomer Stachel is up for his first flight accompanied by von Klugermann.

Who will prevail in the war-torn skies...

A mash up of the films Blue Max & Flyboys I made as a fun "what if" scenario. I have enjoyed both styles and tried to capture the spirit they were both made in, hopefully successfully mixing the two very different perspectives each film purveyed.

Not a red triplane to be seen.

Very nicely done, seamless editing, looks like it was all filmed together ! (and stands high and above the other YouTube material). Thanks.

That was very believable. Good job.

When I saw Flyboys, the shot of Rawlings just missing the church, where it loomed in front of him, made me think of Willi von Klugermann's crash. I had to laugh seeing the two scenes combined.

Our favorite anti-hero wins the day (as we knew he would)!

Very entertaining piece Kevin!

Thumbs up Thank You

Thanks very much for the kind feedback. I'm very glad you enjoyed the immersion and spirit that the project was made in.

I had been kicking around this idea for a bit, but was never sure it could be pulled off due the very different styles of the two films. Having a couple days free, I finally decided to give it a try.

It was a good editing exercise and fun to pit the characters against each other.

I will sort out a better video version with stereo quality for download in the next day or so. YouTube tends to compress the picture and sounds, losing out on the nuances.

I might try it again at some point with some other war classics when I have the time.
