Yes Jim, plenty of life left in this project. You're partially to blame for stalling me out. The artwork you created of MvR's DII was so detailed and beautiful that it raised my expectations for my own animation models. Maybe too much.
I'll get back to it and you can tell me if they cut the mustard.

Thanks for the nudge.

Hi Ricardo and Other MvR Fans,

I've actually been trying to move this project forward and get some animation tests up here for you to view. My obstacle has been that I built both of these aircraft at a high enough resolution that the wimpy animation program I'm using right now (Carrara 6 'Pro') takes a brain dump when I try to place both planes in the same animation. So I'm having to recreate a second low poly version of each plane to have in the background. When you're looking from MvR's perspective the model of Hawker's DH2 in the distance will be the simplified version and vice versa.

I'm going to purchase and learn Maya this winter. That should solve my application problems. This has been a heck of a year in every way. I'm looking forward to getting back to my favorite hobby this winter.

Thanks for your patience.

I'm glad to know that you're still on it. And Maya is a great piece of software with one of the best render engines one can ask for.

Cheers,
Beto

Hi Mike

Nice to know you're keeping it under your sights. Did you look at Blender? Just curious on your opinion.

It's good to hear from my old Forum friends again!

I'm not really looking at anything but Maya because that seems to be what all of my potential clients are interested in. I'm planning on doing some more computer game development in the near future. It's important to be compatible with the other developers. I've had a hard enough time in the past being on a Mac and using Carrara. Unfortunately the 3D business is like that.

Speaking of games one of the local gaming companies I've been talking to has an online WW1 dogfighting game that will be released soon. It's called "Ace of Aces". You can find info on this new game at Mad Otter Games | Ace of Aces I haven't played the game yet but I'm always interested in anything WW1. Hopefully it will be good.
