WW1 air combat has more glory and grandeur than WW2 air combat!I don't understand why Dogfights only did one ww1 episode, theres plenty of good great war dogfights, like Udet vs Tom Hazell,Richthofen vs Hawker ect.

i agree that the reason there are no more wwi pilots left is becuase they were WWI pilots that had to take like 20 years off

Too right! Think of all the episodes they could do just on WWI aces:
- The whole Bishop controversy
- The whole Brown controversy
- Albert Ball, kind young man who kills like a machine and plays violin
- Boelke, first man to put fighting theory down on paper
- Richthoffen
- Wolff
- Foncke, one of the few who survived
- Guynemer
- Barker and his last fight
- Rickenbacker
One of the issues is, as far as I see it, there weren't very many American aces due to their relatively late entry into the war and History TV caters largely to an American audience. I did just watch the Dogfights episode that featured Rickenbacker, and they did an alright job of it, so I'm sure they could turn out very good WWI features on planes, aces, missions, etc.
These guys deserve to be remembered, regardless of whether their aircraft can push through the speed of sound, or shoot down a B17 single-handed.

Thank you, glad you liked it. We're fast approaching D Day and its getting very exciting.
Dogfights wanted to do a 2 hr special on THE STAND as part of their upcoming season, but the spat with HC put a hold on it. However, the Dogfights folks were interested in staying involved with the entire project and we have some very exciting announcements coming soon. You'll like it, I promise.

Hi Stephen:
Thanks for keeping us up to speed on what's happening. I was at the banquet at DPR when you did the premiere and I can't wait to see it again. Has there been any changes from what we saw to the current version.

Good morning, Lloyd;
Oh yes, lots of changes. The trailer released yesterday is entirely different in every respect. You can see both trailers and other videos related to THE STAND at THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr., "The Documentary" page.
Its basically just like a movie trailer. Final editing and post production is now underway in FL where about six of the eight segments in the doc are now finished, along with all audio voice tracks. The full, one hour version will be on the DVD, and the bonus disc will contain at least ten features with tons of additional material as well. The TV version will only have 46 minutes of content due to commercial time.
We are still on track for a late November release, provided that Schiffer actually releases the book on the target date. Everything depends on Schiffer... the documentary, print, THE QUEST and everything else will all be released on the day the book is released so that it all hits the market at once.
Does that answer your questions?

History Channel has really stretched the definition of their name to include a lot of programming that really should air some where else. I barely watch it anymore. Their shows become lazy and redundant. (What UFOs, Bigfoot or Ice Road Truckers have to do with history is beyond me). While periodically they'll do something interesting, most days are plain awful.
I don't buy the argument that the lack of progamming related to WW1 has to do with the dearth of veterans or film footage. If this were the case, they wouldn't have done the dozens of shows they've produced about Egypt or Rome. I've tried to contact them, but its impossible to reach anyone. All of the names of executives are buried deep and the channel just become another faceless, mindless corporation intent on selling us viagra.
