Angel's wing

Back in August someone was asking about this movie; however, that thread is now locked. I found the DVD to this French movie when I was at FRY Electronics yesterday. I did not know this movie existed. As I said this is a French movie (with subtitles) and I guess it could be considered their version of the BLUE MAX. I looked up this movie online (Amazon) to find out more about it. The movie was released in 1992 and was released to DVD in October 2008. Amazon has it listed for $21.99 (US), but I picked it up at FRY's for $14.99. I liked this movie overall, but I did take some acceptions to it. It is definitely better than FLYBOYS. Hell, I think it is better than ACES HIGH. The flying scenes are great and the aircraft used in the movie has/had potential for the viewing audience, but not so much for the purists. Aircraft in the movie represented are: (FRENCH) Bleriot XI, Morane-Saulnier "G", Morane-Saulnier A1, Morane-Saulnier "P", SPAD XIII, (GERMAN) Albatros C.1 (I think that is what it is supposed to be?) and Fokker Dr.1. I recommend this movie to anyone's WW1 DVD collection. Here is a link to a reveiwer on Amazon. I think his critique is dead on.

I'm surprised that I have not had a response to this post. Has anyone seen this movie and if so I would like your thoughts?

Hey Buz,
I followed your link and did a ltttle research on this film. It looks great! Seems like the main character is based, in part, on George Guynemer. I'll make it a point to order a copy of this eventually.
Thanks

rainbase,

I was talking to a friend of mine about the main character of this film. I think the intent of this character is based on composites of Guynemer and Fonck.

Dave,

When you get the movie and see it, let me know what you think of it.

Likewise..

I had never even heard of this one , which is odd as from the review it sounds promising. The photo on the video even looks something like Guynemer. It sounds like it may be well done and only one way to be certain.
