Jeremy Kemp is such a great actor. My favourite from the Blue Max.
He played also : "Star Trek: The Next Generation" .... Robert Picard (1 episode, 1990)
and in Top Secret! (1984) ...General Sterck
Top Secret! (1984)

Hi Kilian & Gregvan,
Jeremy Kemp also co-starred again with George Peppard in the war/espionage movie "Operation Crossbow" which was about the German V-Weapons in WW2. And he briefly appeared as the scowling/disapproving father of the bride in one of the wedding ceremonies in the film 'Four Weddings & a Funeral".
Hi Bristol,
Yes Karl Michael Volger was in 'Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines". He played the younger of the two stiff upper-lipped Prussian Officers who enter the contest but he injures himself when he crashes during a practice flight so the older officer has to join the race.
Pete.

Hi pete, I seem to remember he was 'nobbled' as well---by terry thomas's bounder---but can't remember names!
Lovely aeroplanes (some belonging to 'Shuttleworth' of course now)
cheers,
Dave.

Kemp was 31, IMO too old to play a convincing GW airman, though he brought off the role with aplomb.
Carl Schell apparently is still living at age 81. He was 38 when he played the 25-year-old MvR. (Same age as Peppard and Vogler BTW.) Brother of Maximilian and Maria. He was also in an episode of 12 O'Clock High.
Loni von Friedl (Frau Heidemann) now 65, made over 80 movies but TBM was almost her only English language film.
Interesting to note on IMDB that five writers plus Hunter shared script credits.

Hi guys,
Although i asked this question on a thread about the medal---elswhere--can anyone say why the replicas worn in the film were blue and SILVER!!!! ?
Puzzled me ever since i first saw it---when it was first released.
Hope one of you guys can shed some light.
Dave.

They did the same sort of flying under bridges in the Masterpiece Theater showing of "Piece of Cake" written by Derek Robinson.

Hi Hans,
Very sad to hear that, he was a fine actor. I apologise for listing his age in-correctly, I had him down as being 81. Thanks for listing the news. Regards Pete.
RIP Herr Volger and sincere condolescenes to your family and friends.

He had an old face--the acne scars didn't help--but YOU could do a thread, or an article, about the great airmen who couldn't pass the entrance exams, including age, of their modern air forces.

I fancied her more than Ursula--so refined--and then running off in that little gray number at the end. She's held up pretty well:
