Old Japanese Anime Dogfight

Hello
I remember I used to see a japanese anime back in the 80's, and I remembered that one episode included a dogfight, which I thought it could be a Great War one.

I found today the episode, and was surprised to find there some decently done story. Consider the anime was made in the 70's, in Italy it was called "Candy Candy" (the name of the blond girl). It's in italian.

At this point I'm pretty sure that was WWI, and since the pilot guy was american and volounteer, and he is flying a SPAD VII (more or less) with french insignias, so from La Fayette Escadrille. I'm not anticipating you the rest He met the german in "outdated" planes... but whatever ! That was one memory that fascinated me far long before I know anything about WWI aviation history... looking at that now it seem so strange HAve fun looking that.

Very nice! I used to watch a show called Candy in the early 80's, and I believe this is the same girl even though the animations themselves may have been redone of perhaps they simply evolved during the running of the series. She certainly looked somewhat different in my memories...

Anyway, that Fokker Scourge went on for a long time didn't it!

Kind regards,

Reinout
