Peter is a member of our Society, and has a great affection for WW1 aviation. His reputation in the film industry (and his considerable assets) allows him to choose whatever project he likes with the full backing of whichever film studio he wishes to work with.

Indeed, it bodes well. I'm pretty sure he is building up to make THE definitive WW1 aviation film.

We can only hope.

Did you guys know he made a short film used as a backdrop to the Australian War Memorial's magnificent new attraction "Over the Front"? The film is projected on a MASSIVE screen behind 5 WW1 warbirds recently restored by the museum. (A Fokker D.Va, Avro504k, A rare Pfalz, an SE5a and a DH9).

Australian War Memorial - Visitor information

"Crossing the Line", written and directed by Peter Jackson, is by all accounts, a very good short film. A teaser is available on our Society Website. Please have a look. The Se5a's are brilliant.

Shot over two days on the only two "Red" cameras in existence.

Hi Steve,

There was some talk here about the film at the museum when it came out in an older thread. If I ever make it to NZ that's one of the things I want to see.

I know that Russ and Ronny Bar were at the last two airshows but they haven't mention anything about the short movie.

I have seen the clips from "Crossing the Line" and yes, what an innovation this would bring to the big screen.

Lloyd...

Unfortunately the last two offerings, "Flyboys" and "Der Rote Baron" have not helped to show WW1 movies as good money makers!! What we need is a WW1 film that is a success at the box office, that will get the money men cueing up to invest We could then have the situation we had in the late 60's early 70's when after "Blue Max" several films where made to jump on the band wagon

I totally agree and would hope that the name of Peter Jackson and star studded cast would help.

Well, that clip has been taken off of youhootube already.

I've heard Peter Jackson wants to re-do "The Blue Max". Heck, he's already got Stachel's Pfalz! Anyone else hear this?

Interesting! We better keep an eye out to see if he's really doing a remake!
We can trust Peter on making a great remake of TBM,he seems to be those directors that doesn't tolerate anyone changing his stories. It wouldn't be TBM without Goldsmith's score and towels
