The RareTV copies were missing at least a couple of episodes and the company was awful to deal with, selling very poor quality material for inflated prices. The series was also available from an obscure auction site as a complete set which was better quality than the RareTV set and was 1/3 of the price (Matt, did Ben let you have a copy of this set?).
I've managed to find this site again:
Wings ,Complete BBC TV series 1977-1978, WW1 For Sale

If you can't track down the dvd (I havn't yet), then the you could look out for the novelisations of the 2 series written by Barry Thomas Wings published in 1977 by Pan and Wings Over Enemy Lines (BBC 1978).

Turnbuckle,
Thanks for the link. I just purchased a copy (sight unseen) and hope I didn't get ripped off. If Major Larabee has a copy of "both" versions, perhaps he could let us all know if the set he and I just purchased is the better option.
Thanks for all the assistance gentlemen.

The set I linked to is complete and the quality is watchable, certainly better than the RareTV ripoff.

A friend gave me a copy of the silent movie "Wings", described as a 1927 "Aviation Classic", with musical accompanyment. I watched it today.
I guess it was enjoyable enough fare, with some classic movie themes, love interest, rivalry, companionship, comedy relief etc. 2 hours long though.
So that's what brought me to think about this series. I'm always happy to see anything with a WW1 avation theme, and like I said, I don't get too critical of it's historical accuracy, or the woeful special effects (especially due to its vintage).
I also saw "Aces High" yesterday, and enjoyed that. A good movie. "Dawn Patrol" later on this afternon (if they don't interrupt me with work).
Looking forward to watching this series.

Casualty rates among the subaltern ranks were the highest of all ranks. Seen the stats but can't quote 'em.

Class in the forces
If you want to see the class system at work in the RAF, watch "Piece of Cake". How all and sundrie treat each other, including foreigners.
