Spot on Steve
Spot on Stee,
I loved your example, I 've thought the same thing about negetive comments posted about the Red baron Film. When I saw the short version of the film i was blown away and being a Word war one avation nut I thought other people into WWI Aviation would think like wise, but the they were, people complaining about this and that . I thought wow people expect so much we are really lucky if there is any films ever again made on the subject again. This makes me mad, i constantly search fox and free to air and try and find anything on the subject but never find anything. when I saw The Red Baron ,well i just felt spoilt. I'm hanging to get the blu-ray - The Blu-ray trailer looks great and it's on Eagle Entertainments- "Cass" blu-ray at video stores. But anyone who is right into something is always going to be hard to please as they no to much and are setup to be frustrated by an adaption from a book or history. Films are limited in what they can do and certainly these days it's harder to have the funding and time to really cover any subject 100%. Those Old films are special and will never be done again with all those real wonderful aircraft doing that again would blow any budget these days. Your right the only salvation may come from Peter Jackson, who has the clout to pull of such indulgence.

Wings- new dvd release- October!
Good news, guys.
The complete series of Wings is being released on dvd by the BBC. The region-2 dvds (UK and Europe) will be released on Oct 19th. Seasons 1 and 2 can be purchased seperately or bought as a complete set.
No word if it will be released on Region 1 (US) or Region 4 (Australia) but here's hoping.
I will be surprised if they aren't released in those latter formats given that the BBC have released a number of classic series from the 1970s and early 80s on Region 4 in the past year including 'War & Peace', 'Fall of Eagles', 'The Day of the Triffids' & 'The Monocled Mutineer'.
Eindecker at six o'clock!
Pete

Great news indeed Pete! Where did you hear it? I was told the BBC had tapped over some of the original episodes.

Good news also for the Australian Society of WW1 Aero Historians. If the BBC releases it on DVD, I'm going to donate the copy mentioned above to the ASWW1AH and buy the BBC one (after I check out whether all the episodes are there).
Didn't the BBC tape over some of the "Dad's Army" episodes too? Damn, they musta been stinging for bucks to wipe original tapes like that.

Hello,
Received my pre ordered copy this morning, and have watched the first episode, quality of the interior scenes (VCR?) is very good, the exteriors is typical 70s/80s TV film quality, but as good as I remember it.
Includes all 25 episodes, and is certainly a good addition to anyones aviation DVD collection.
I certainly cannot imagine the BBC commisioning anything like this these days.
Cheers
PGH
