Glad that all 25 episodes are included. Here's hoping that it comes out on Region-4. I will be annoyed if it doesn't as there have been numerous other BBC series of the 70s and early 80s that have come out on Region 4 in Australia during the past few years. Even 'Elizabeth R" and 'Fall of Eagles", neither of which have been shown on Australian TV since they first aired in the early 1970s.

No word if it will be released on Region 1 (US) or Region 4 (Australia) but here's hoping.
I will be surprised if they aren't released in those latter formats given that the BBC have released a number of classic series from the 1970s and early 80s on Region 4 in the past year including 'War & Peace', 'Fall of Eagles', 'The Day of the Triffids' & 'The Monocled Mutineer'.

Pete,

Dropped by JB Hi-Fi in Sydney (Pitt St Mall) and asked them to look it up on their computer. Sometimes they get a "heads-up" and tell you they will be available in July or December or whenever.

The young lass that served me said it didn't look likely in the near future.

Hi fella's.

Why wait? Most DVD players can be made 'Multi-Region'. This site will show you how:

Free DVD Unlocking Codes: Make DVD players multi-region & get cheaper discs....

Instead of region 1, 2 or whatever, you should set your player to 'Region 0' and it'll play any DVD you throw at it.

Regards.

Hello,
Glad to see this coming out as I was convinced the BBC had probably destroyed it as they did with lots of old Dr Who episodes. I have fond memories of watching as a kid.
There were two tie in novels to the series.
Wings and Wings:Over Enemy Lines both by Barry Thomas. Worth checking second hand book stores or ebay for as they were quite good.
Best wishes,
Al

The ABC store in the Queen Victoria Building also seems to think it might not be released here (at least not in the near future). Seems as if "Mother England" had forgotten her bastard child.

Sniff!

Hi Steve, thanks anyway for trying. I asked a similar question at an ABC shop in Melbourne and got the same reply, no word on whether they will release it on region-4. My dvd player also plays region-1 so I can perhaps order a copy from the USA if it comes out there, otherwise I can re-set my player to play all codes.
Some-one has downloaded a clip on Youtube, playing the first 10 minutes of the very first episode of Wings when Alan Farmer is still living at home and hasn't enlisted yet. Interestingly, the actor who plays Farmer was the same actor who played Squadron leader Rex in the 1988 mini-series 'Piece of Cake'. From a working class Sergeant to a toffish squadron leader in ten years! The actor who played Triggers still pops up on BBC productions now and then, he recently appeared in the 'Sharpe' and 'Hornblower' films.
Pete.
