Peter Jackson should do this!

I highly suggest that PJ should convince networks like ABC or NBC to air Crossing the Line on November 11 this year!Let the people of the US know what the hiloday is REALLY about.Someone should contact him and ask him this idea!

i totally agree. I saw the trailer some time ago and spent some time looking for a place to watch the full length film but never did. I'm sure alot of people would geta real kick out of the airing of that movie.

There is only one place where you can watch the full length film, and that is the Australian War Memorial "Over the Front" Exhibition. Displayed on a super-wide screen as a "background" for their display of 5 WW1 aircraft.

I believe it was commissioned by them, and that may mean that the film is their "intellectual property".

AWM Film

Hi Steve,

You could very well be right, it is perfectly reasonable to assume that the AWM owns the IP for that short film. A few months ago, someone gave me a URL which reportedly has a link to the entire film. I will have to do my best to try and find it now! I have been meaning to post a link to this URL on this site but I didn't even get as far as having a look at it myself. I am not sure what I have done with my note with the URL on it but I will try to find it.

Cheers,

David.

The film was a test film only for some new digital film equipment, but what a test!

Well, it was never a TEST film as such. It was intended and commissioned, the only test part about it was the use of the new "Red" cameras (there's only two of them in existence). It's obvious they work, and work well. It was also shot over two days only.

Impressive piece of work given the two days filming, new technology etc. Still, viewing it on a PC monitor (even a HD widescreen one) just wouldn't do it justice. The screen at the AWM is (I think) about 70 feet wide. Backdrop to 5 great looking aircraft, well restored.

How about a 15 minute slideshow of photos and footage of WWI...that shows its horrors. It would be a nice tribiute to those who fought and dies.
I like the slideshow to be like this...

1.To be silent (to set a somber mood)

2.Feature photos of men with "the stare of a scarred mind" (like the one with the young Tommy leaning against a tree with his hands in his pockets, possibly thinking of disturbing things he saw) Can anyone post the photo here, just to show what I mean.

3.Unbiased,every side gets equal attention in the program.

4.Show footage of men going over the top,the suffering, ect.

If done right it would get people to show how it was all a bloody waste!
It should be unpatriotic, unbiased, and poigant! And if those networks don't consider something so serious then their complete morons!!

I work with a lot of TV networks and I can assure you that they would turn it down. Moves too slow.

Like war, television is not about a cause. Its not about truth. Its about money.

Like war, television appeals to the lowest common denominator. It requires support of the ignorant masses. It relies entirely upon propaganda.

Like war, the best characters are the poor stooges who don't even know they're acting as a pawn in a play... witness "reality" TV.

I share your high hopes, but I believe you expect far too much of television networks.

I just read the first book of the "Bandy" series by Donald Jack. I'm not sure why it took me so long to get around to this book, but wow! I could see this making a fine film; plenty of action, a little romance, black comedy and great dialog. I've jumped right into the third volume (don't have the second) and it's every bit as good and with great Sopwith Dolphin action! I wonder if PJ has been exposed to these books?

Peter has access to all the books in our library and is free to borrow them at any time as a privilege of his membership, but I'm quite certain the only things he has the time to read are film scripts.

We all know of his extensive collection of replica aircraft, and his love of WW1 aviation. We can only be patient and wait.
